Pioneers of Tomorrow - Preparing to Attend
Are you a school leaver, graduate or career mover joining us for Pioneers of Tomorrow? With just 2 weeks to go until the Farnborough International Airshow and the inaugural Pioneers of Tomorrow event, here are a few tips and tricks to help you prepare for the day.
Plan Ahead
There is a lot to see and do at FIA2022, so make sure you plan your day effectively! Take a look at the schedule of talks and conferences on our What’s On page and make a note of any sessions you’d like to attend. With the newly launched FIA2022 App, you can also add events to your calendar to help you manage and organise your day.
With over 1000 exhibitors at this year’s show, check out our Exhibitor List and make a note of any companies that particularly interest you and you’d like to talk to. Not sure where to begin? Our STEAM trail will identify the exhibitors running activities and demonstrations specifically for Pioneers of Tomorrow. You’ll be able to pick up a map of the trail on the day.
Ensure you also set aside time for breaks and to watch the flying display in the afternoon.
Perfect your CV
In the days leading up to Pioneers of Tomorrow, ensure your CV is up-to-date and best highlights your experience and skills. You might find it useful to bring a few printed copies with you on the day to hand out or have a digital copy saved on your phone or laptop that you can email to prospective employers.
If you need any help with your CV, whether you’re starting from scratch or just tidying up the final details the National Careers Service is a great place to pick up some tips.
What to Wear
Whether you’re still at school or a recent graduate, making the best first impression is key. The Farnborough International Airshow is a prestigious and business-driven event so exhibitors and trade visitors will be in smart, business dress. We’d recommend you also wear suitable, smart clothing but please bear in mind that the site is very big and you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking on the day so make sure you wear comfy shoes!
Careers Hub
Located in Hall 4, our dedicated Careers Hub will give you access to companies across the aerospace industry offering one-to-one advice sessions and seminars. To make the most of this unique opportunity think about what questions you might like to ask and practice an elevator-style pitch to introduce yourself. Check out Indeed’s tips for structuring the perfect pitch.
The Careers Hub will also host a live jobs board advertising a wide range of positions from apprenticeships and entry-level roles, to graduate schemes and full-time positions.
Final Tips
Most of all, enjoy the day! Immerse yourself in the world of aerospace and discover the abundance of opportunities available to you. Keep checking our website and social channels for every announcement in the build-up to the show.
