This panel discussion will address how ESA, national agencies and Europeans industries will seek in the upcoming years to implement relevant robotic technologies, transferring its past experiences and future ambitions on Mars. Synergies with other European industries, such as automobile, telecommunications, energy, and industrial robotics are high. Leveraging on those commonalities will not only benefit to the lunar exploration and science but also to European industries at large.

Didier Schmitt is head of the strategy and coordination group for human and robotic exploration at the European Space Agency. From 2009 to 2018 he was stationed in Brussels, successively in the European Commission Space Policy Unit, as adviser to the President of the EC on technology foresight, and at the EU diplomatic service dealing with space and security. Previously he was head of life sciences for human spaceflight at ESA-ESTEC.
Justin Byrne, Head of Earth Observation, Science & Exploration Business, Airbus UK
Justin Byrne is Head of Earth Observation, Science and Exploration Business for Airbus UK. In this role he manages the system, satellite and instrument activities across Airbus Stevenage and Portsmouth. He is also Head of Science and Mars Exploration Programs across Europe with teams in Airbus Toulouse and Friedrichsafen managing Prime projects for ESA, NASA and other Space Agencies.
